User workspace setup
In order to work properly, PVsyst requires that you define a valid folder to store all your data (projects, PV components, weather data,...). This is called the "user workspace".
When starting PVsyst for the first time, a wizard is displayed to help you define the workspace path.
It has two main options detailed below.
Use a new fresh directory (recommended)
This is the recommended way to do: if you do not know which option to choose, select that one.
It will create a PVsyst data structure (PVsyst8.0_Data) into the specified directory. By default this directory is in your Windows user directory (which is a good place because you can write files here) but you can set another path.
The wizard is automatically checking if the provided path is correct, if not, you are not able to continue until the path is valid.
Copy data from a previous PVsyst installation
The second option is for people who already have an older PVsyst installation (such as PVsyst 6).
The wizard will copy all your previous data to a new place (data are not merged because data from newer PVsyst won't be compatible with old version of PVsyst). It means that both PVsyst installations will have independent workspaces.
Existing directory
If an old version of PVsyst was detected in regular places, the wizard already filled the existing directory. If not, you have to manually set the path to the previous PVsyst*_Data\
directory (most probably in C:\Users\%username%\
). The wizard will automatically check if the path you set contains a valid PVsyst data structure. The workspace must be contained in folder named PVsyst8.0_Data.
New directory
You have to set a folder where a PVsyst data structure (PVsyst8.0_Data) will be created. By default this directory is in your Windows user directory (which is a good place because you can write files here) but you can set another path. The wizard is checking automatically if the provided path is correct, if not, you are not able to continue until the path is valid.
