Batteries - Definition dialog

The battery dialog includes several definition sheets:

  • Basic data, the identifiers and the fundamental properties of a specific battery type. This page is slightly different for Lead-Acid and Li-Ion batteries.
  • Detailed Model parameters shows a set of secondary parameters involved in the model, and the corresponding behaviors.
  • Sizes and technology, to define dimensions and weight, as well as some specific comments.
  • Graphs, a tool visualizing the usual charge/discharge curves of the Battery Model electrical behavior.
  • Commercial data, identical to all PVsyst components.

The battery model and the technologies are described in the "Physical models used" section.

Tips when defining a new battery

You are advised to start from an analog existing battery; and for Li-Ion, possibly from an existing cell.

You have to define the main parameters which should always be present on the datasheets:

  • The model and file name,
  • The number of cells in series and in parallel,
  • The nominal voltage,
  • The nominal capacity at C10,
  • The internal resistance (check the default box),
  • For Li-Ion, the behaviours at limits (especially the charging/discharging currents when modifying the capacity),
  • The Self-discharge curremt,
  • The sizes and weight.
