The main features to be checked when choosing a controller for a stand-alone system are:

-The technology:  direct coupling, or including a power converter (MPPT or fixed DC input)
-The battery pack voltage (many controllers have switchable - or even automatic - battery voltages).
-The Maximum PV current, or Load Current,
-With power converters, the nominal power,
-The ability of managing a Genset
