Setup

Technical requirements

  • Supported operating systems: Windows 8, Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit) and Windows 11;
  • At least 1 GB of RAM;
  • At least 1 GB of free hard drive space.
  • PVsystCLI can be installed and used on Windows Server if this server has been setup with a User Interface1;
  • It has to be installed on the computer where it will be used;
  • The program works properly in full license mode only if the computer’s date and time are correct and have never been modified. PVsyst SA is not liable if the program does not work because the computer’s clock has been changed;
  • Usage of PVsystCLI is currently not allowed nor supported inside a Docker container

Info

The installer package is the same for both PVsyst and PVsystCLI. The CLI tool is directly linked to a specific version of PVsyst.

Install

PVsystCLI is installed alongside PVsyst, the default installation folder is C:\Program Files\PVsyst8.0.6.

Manual install

Just run the downloaded executable file and follow the multiple steps to install PVsystCLI.

Silent install

In order to install PVsystCLI silently, for example when deploying it remotely, you can use the following command arguments:

PVsyst-8.0.6-setup.exe /qn

Add PVsystCLI to the PATH environment variable

PVsystCLI installation folder is automatically added to the computer PATH environment variable, making it accessible from any command window.

Update

PVsystCLI doesn't check for updates automatically, so whenever you want to check for updates, just run the following command:

PVsystCLI.exe version

An update may contain:

  • New features and improvements
  • Issue fixes

Warning

Checking for updates requires an active internet connection, make sure the computer is able to reach *.pvsyst.com through SSL.

Uninstall

Uninstalling PVsystCLI does not require anything else other than using the Windows uninstall tool:

  • Click on menu Start -> Control Panel -> Uninstall or change a program.
  • Right click on PVsyst in the list, then click Uninstall.
  • Accept and follow instructions.

  1. This is due to the fact that PVsystCLI mostly relies on PVsyst and thus requires some graphical libraries. We are aware that this is quite limiting, and we intend to make PVsystCLI independent from those libraries in the future.
