Anonymous data collection

During PVsystCLI installation, you may choose to send anonymous usage data to PVsyst SA. Enabling data sharing will affect both PVsyst and PVsystCLI.

Sharing such data helps us fix issues quicker, improve our tools to match the real needs, and adapt to our users behaviour and system configurations.

Kind of data collected

PVsystCLI may collect the following information:

  • If an exception occurs while running the software
  • Which version of the software is running
  • Which operating system the software is running on
  • How long the software has been running
  • Data about simulations performed: kind of project (grid-connected, standalone, pumping), duration, enabled features (horizon, Module Layout, etc), system power and nothing more
  • Basic hardware information when a crash happens

PVsystCLI will never collect the following information:

  • Any sensitive information about your projects: name, location, components, economic data, results, reports
  • Your username, IP address or any personal, sensitive, or confidential information

Data is transferred through a secured SSL protocol from the software directly to our secured server, thus protecting its privacy and integrity. Data transfer might induce additional costs depending on how the computer is accessing the internet.

Disable anonymous data collection

To turn data collection ON or OFF:

  • Manually edit the file C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\PVsystCLI\8.0\Admin\PVsystCLI.ini
  • Set the value for EnableAnalytics to 1 to enable analytics
  • Or set it to 0 to disable analytics
